The Ágora
The 3rd edition (S8) is held in a new space in the city: the Centro Ágora. With an avant-garde building with clean lines and convenient facilities, the vocation of the Centro Ágora is closely linked to the concept of a public open space as a square (hence the name), capable of accommodating urban life in all its forms. (S8) breathes life into a new center that summarizes the cultural concerns of the city, a cultural institution that is not just a building, a service or a sequence of activities, but an exercise in emotional intelligence and sensitivity when to establish relationships with citizens.
The Ágora building is the result of the proposal of the team formed by the architects Luis Rojo de Castro, Begoña Fernández-Shaw Zulueta and Liliana Obal Díaz, using the slogan “”The Magic Mountain”: a building that promotes the area environmental and landscape values, which are preserved and highlighted, reaffirming its green character with its cover. The building is an open space with few partitions, where areas are connected and you can walk; but at the same time, there are different functional spaces, intimate and cosy, where you can chat or read, and where (S8) will offer projections, performances, workshops and meetings, in connection with the surrounding landscape. With a privileged location, the Ágora, in the vicinity of Ronda de Outeiro, has a public outside square. A scenario that will favor the exchange and the experiences the Festival offers this year.
